Welcome to the 21st Edition of The Cricket Diaries: Team India Edition.

Let’s jump into the latest updates from the ongoing IND vs ENG 5th Test at Dharamshala.

1. England's Struggle on Day 1:

On a crisp morning with a chilly atmosphere, England won the toss and opted to bat first. The openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett, cautiously navigated through the initial overs, forming a partnership of 64 runs. However, once Duckett departed after a valiant attempt at a six, England's batting lineup faced a consistent challenge. The innings concluded at 218, with Kuldeep Yadav's spectacular five-wicket haul leaving a significant impact for India.

2. Jaiswal's Record-Breaking Performance:

When India took the crease, openers adopted an aggressive approach. Yashasvi Jaiswal, in particular, showcased an extraordinary display, scoring 57 runs and breaking Virat Kohli's record for the most test runs in a series in the last 25 years. With 712 runs in the series, Jaiswal further etched his name in history. Additionally, he set a new record for hitting the most test sixes against a team for India – a remarkable 26 sixes against England in just 9 innings.

3. Dominant Indian Batting on Day 2:

Day 2 witnessed the continuation of India's dominance. In the first session, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both secured individual test centuries, setting the stage for India's commanding position. The second session saw the departure of Rohit and Gill, but the debutant Devdutt Padikkal and Sarfaraz Khan took charge, scoring individual fifties. With valuable contributions from the tailenders, India's score soared to 473-8 by the end of Day 2, establishing a commanding lead of 255 runs.

As we await Day 3, the focus shifts to England's approach in their second innings. Will they bounce back, or will India continue their dominance? Stay tuned for more exciting cricket action!
