Welcome to the 37th Edition of The Cricket Diaries!

After a 40-day break, the Indian Cricket Team is ready to kick off their home season today, with a much-anticipated series against Bangladesh in Chennai.

India is set to play 2 Test matches and 3 T20Is against Bangladesh, followed by a 3-Test series against New Zealand in mid-October 2024. After a long break from Test cricket, fans are excited to see the return of India's seasoned run-machine, Virat Kohli, who is back in the Test squad after taking time off during the India vs. England series earlier this year.

India is fielding a formidable Test squad against Bangladesh, with all the senior players expected to feature in the playing XI.

Indian Team squad for the First Test is as follows:

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant (w), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Sarfaraz Khan, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Dhruv Jurel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Akash Deep.

• 19th Sept 2024: 1st Test, Chennai

• 27th Sept 2024: 2nd Test, Kanpur

• 6th Oct 2024: 1st T20I, Gwalior

• 9th Oct 2024: 2nd T20I, Delhi

• 12th Oct 2024: 3rd T20I, Hyderabad

The Challenge Ahead:

Bangladesh comes to India after an impressive series win in Pakistan, claiming two consecutive Test victories. This shows the grit, determination, and strength of their squad. However, India is ranked 2nd in the world and sits comfortably at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) table.
